Permanently Moved.

After 10 years in Singapore, we have decided to move. My husband and kids are all Swedish so here I am “visiting” them as they are moving back. Meanwhile, I’ve applied for residency, a process that apparently takes 14-18 months to get a decision. I have an appointment at the end of august to see what can be done to hasten this process.

We have been in Singapore for the past 10 years and on the flight over, I was thinking about how much has changed since then. I moved to Singapore as a young, single lady. I don’t think I really had any concrete plans except to work my ass off for a few years and then move on to the next country. I still remember that i planned to work like a maniac for 2 years to get used to the pace, and then move to Australia, because for some reason I had this impression that people had this whole work life balance thing down. Beyond that, I don’t think I really knew what I wanted in life. Since then, I’ve met and married my husband and had 3 wonderful kids. Now I’m at a point where I feel I need to rethink the direction I have sent my career through.  Since I’m not allowed to work until i get my residence permit, I guess this is the perfect opportunity. I will try to spend this time wisely, although the past few weeks, we have indulged ourselves in some proper holiday time and just enjoying this time with our kids. Soon it will be time to snap back to reality.

I’ll say one thing, I’m enjoying this brief breathing space.
