I’ve been participating in Advent of Code since 2020, which was a really great year to start it given the pandemic and all. I have an ex-colleague to thank / blame for introducing it to me back then.
I’ve been pretty good at posting my solutions in my repo https://github.com/therealjawss/aoc2020 but please don’t judge as these solutions were made under a lot of pressure 🤣
I used to try to wake up at 6:30 and get it done but i have learned in the later years to take it easy and solve it when i have the time. Otherwise it ends up really taking over the day when the difficult ones start trickling in. I think i only may have ever finished one year, and that was not even done on time.
I guess, someday i will try to be more ambitious but these days between work and kids, i needed to not let it take over completely.
The format is the same every year which is great. I’ve been able to build up my own tools to make the setup easier for me.
After solving, i usually head down to the reddit thread to see how others have solved it. https://www.reddit.com/r/adventofcode/ I’m always impressed with the people who actually make visualizations for the problems as well, that’s a whole other level.
This was a soft start, and I do hope I get further than I did last year. 🤞
