Today is international women’s day. There was a brand that was calling for bloggers to interview their kids and the first question was “what do you like most about being a girl. When I asked my 4 and 5 year old, I thought their responses were perfect. My daughter said she liked drawing, playing with her toys and…. sleeping. My son said he liked doing beads and playing games. I love how they have not yet been conditioned to think that there are things that boys or girls can or cannot do because of their gender. I think it is great we are raising awareness about women not getting equal opportunities as men because it really has been pretty unbalanced in the past decades. I am looking forward to the day though when we stop having to celebrate women exclusively because we have moved past this issue as a whole. I hope that is the world that my kids will grow up in. In the mean time, I plan to fake it till we make it. I will do my very best to make sure my kids are not hindered or hinder others with gender.
